He graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Zimbabwe in August 2001. Thomas was registered in September 2001 as a Legal Practitioner, Conveyancer and Notary Public and thereafter practiced law with Chinamasa Mudimu & Chinongwenya Legal Practitioners, Kantor & Immerman Legal Practitioners before he left practice in September 2003 to join Justice for Children Trust (a Non Governmental Organisation on children’s rights) an organization he co-founded. In March 2005 Thomas rejoined private practice with Magwaliba & Kwirira Legal Practitioners where he left to open his own practice on 1 January 2008.
Between 2002 and 2005, Thomas was a tutor in the Faculty of Law at the University of Zimbabwe where he handled tutorials in Introduction to Law, Labour Law and Constitutional Law. In 2004, he lectured the Constitutional Rights course in the Department of Political Science at the same University. He is currently the Chairperson of Inerela+ Zimbabwe Board of Governors. He is also a Member of the Council of the Christ College an affiliate college of the Great Zimbabwe University. He is also a former Group Company Secretary and legal advisor to Twalumba Holdings a company with interest in civil engineering, farming, property development, transport, printing, mining, hotel and catering, and petroleum industry. He advises a number of Real Estate Companies and has vast experience in conveyancing law and corporate practice (spanning over 13 years).
